Abstract:

PURPOSE: To keep the lower impressed voltage on an electrode in regeneration of a nicotinamide co-enzyme by incorporating compds., such as substd. or unsubstd. 9H-acridin-2-ones, having a mediation function on an electrode surface.
CONSTITUTION: The mediation compds. of one or more kinds selected from the subtd. or unsubstd. 9H-acridin-2-ones and 11H-dibenz-[b,f][1,4]oxazepin-8- ones, expressed by formula I are incorporated into the surface of the electrode. X in the formula I is expressed by formula II. In the formula II, R', R'' are a 1-6C lower alkyl group or the group expressed by formula III. Y, Z in the formula I are respectively independently hydrogen or separate univalent substituents and Q is expressed by (→O)n ((n) is 0 or 1). The electrode is useful for electrochemical regeneration of the co-enzymes dihydronicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH), dihydronicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH).
