Abstract:
PURPOSE: To allow signal transmission between a function device and a medical apparatus and minimize the number of metal conductors by providing the device with a means mutually converting light signals and electric signals at the proximal ends and distal ends of a prescribed number of optical conductors connected to the medical apparatus at the proximal end and the function device at the distal end respectively. CONSTITUTION: A pacemaker connected to a heart and an electrode element 8 are connected via a first optical line 10. A first optical conductor 32 and a second optical conductor 36 are arranged in the first optical line 10. A photodiode 30 and a light emitting diode 34 are arranged at the side end of the element 8. Signals are interchanged among the first optical conductor 32, the second optical conductor 36, and a function device 24. A light emitting diode 44 and a photodiode 46 are arranged at the side end of the pacemaker, and signals are interchanged between the pacemaker and the optical conductors 32, 36 via a contact surface 40.
