To reduce an oversight of an abnormal shadow by a reader such as a doctor by displaying the supplementary information to the result of the abnormal candidate shadow detection process of a medical image.
The medical image data inputted to an input section 1 are stored in a data storage section 3, and the medical image data completely inputted to an abnormal candidate shadow detection process unit are judged by an input completion judgment section 2. An object image manual selection section 4 selects the medical image data specified by an operation section 11 among the completely inputted medical image data. An abnormal candidate detection section 5 reads the corresponding medical image data from the data storage section 3 and conducts an abnormal candidate shadow detection process. The detection process result is stored in the data storage section 3, and its supplementary information is stored in an supplementary information storage section 7 and is displayed on a display section 6 as required.
