According to the medical image reading system, an image analysis device analyzes the medical image, and sets the reference reading time for the medical image based on the result of analysis. A reading terminal measures the reading time from when the medical image is displayed in a display part until when instructed by an operation part to terminate reading of the medical image. If the measured reading time does not reach the reference reading time, the medical image is continuously displayed in the display part.
