To provide a medical observation system having a constitution suitable for capturing images of the visual points of both a direct view observation image and an oblique view observation image.

The medical observation system includes: an objective optical system for a direct view and an objective optical system for an oblique view for condensing, on a subject, outgoing light from an optical fiber; means for making the outgoing light incident alternately on one of the objective optical systems; means which generates a direct view image by making an image of only the reflected components of light condensed on the subject via the objective optical system for a direct view out of the reflected light from the subject; and means which generates an oblique view image by making an image of only the reflected components of light condensed on the subject via the objective optical system for an oblique view out of the reflected light.
