To perform a cotton winding work without much time and provide a disposable swab by using a cut cotton as a cotton ball formed on the end of a slender plastic shaft having wire physical property, winding the cut cotton on the shaft after one end is turned up, and applying a paste to the root part of the cotton ball to fix it.

A swab is formed of a shaft 1, a cotton ball 2 formed on one end of the shaft, and a plastic handle 3 mounted on the other end of the shaft. As the shaft 1, a plastic slender shaft having wire physical property is used. The wire physical property means the characteristics of a material having fixed strength and toughness even when it is slender, bendable, never broken when bent, and having shape holding property for keeping the bent state. A band cotton in which the directions of fibers are longitudinally arranged is cut at a right angle to the fiber direction to form a cut cotton, one end of the cut cotton is turned to the inner surface side, and wound on the tip of the shaft 1, and a paste is applied only to the root part 4 of the cotton ball to fix it to the shaft 1.
