Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple but effective means for protecting the front end of needles constituting part of a medical treatment device, such as intravenous catheter assembly.
SOLUTION: This medical treatment device has hollow needles 4, 48 having sharp distal ends for pricking to the patient's skin, a means for moving the needle 4 with respect to a housing 10 between a first use prepn. completion position and a second retreated needle protection position, a member 40 which is disposed at the distal end part of this housing 10 and is movable between the first position to permit the longitudinal movement of the needle 4 and the second position to prevent the movement of the needle 4 from the needle protection position and a hub supporting member 24 for supporting a cannula assembly 30 while being adacent to the distal end part of the housing 10. In such a case, the needle 4 has the means for releasing the cannula assembly 30 from the hub supporting member 24 until the needle 4 comes to its second retracted needle protection position.
