Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a therapeutic agent containing an effective amount of a specific γ-nicotine compound, effective for neurodegenerative diseases, esp. those inducing cholinergic deficiency, thus useful for treating senile demantia of Alzheimer type, Parkinson's disease and the like. CONSTITUTION: A therapeutic agent for target neurodegenerative diseases such as senile dementia of Alzheimer type and Parkinson's disease because of having the above-mentioned advantages, is obtained by including an effective amount of a γ-nicotine compound of the formula (R is H or an alkyl) to form an oral agent as a liquid in a solvent such as an aqueous liquid or in a solid support, or an intravenous injection by dissolving the above active ingredient in e.g. a saline solution, or a percutaneous agent by mixing the active ingredient in a percutaneous patch. The effective amount of the above compound is 5-150μg per kg b.w. of a patient, being 0.10-10mg/h per patient. This therapeutic agent is esp. effective for treating diseases inducing cholinergic deficiency.
