To obtain a harmless, light and practical X-ray shield material having similar X-ray shielding capability to lead, replaceable of lapping materials of X-ray film used for shielding medical X-ray and high polymer materials containing lead foil, lead powder or lead compound used for number seal and the like for discrimination.

A medical X-ray shield material consists of composite of organic high polymer containing at least one of bismuth, bismuth compound, wolfram or wolfram compound as an X-ray shield material or composing 15 to 95% of one of barium compound, antimony compound, tin or tin compound. This composite material does not use such materials as lead currently used a plenty and being harmful to environment and provides a material X-ray shielding capability identical to lead.
