To obtain a medicine which contains a 2-phenylpyridine derivative, suppresses bone resorption and is useful as a preventive or treating agent for osteoporosis with side-effect reduced.
This preventive or treating agent contains a compound of the formula [R is CONR1, CR2(=N-OR3, -CON(R4)(R5); R1 is H, a 1-6C alkyl, a 1-6C alkoxy; R2 and R4 are each H, a 1-6 alkyl, R3 is H, a 1-6C alkyl, a 2-6 hydroxyalkyl; R5 is H, a 1-6 alkyl, alkoxy) or its salt in an amount of 1-70wt.%. In addition, customary components are appropriately formulated to prepare oral drug, injection solution and suppository in usual manners. The daily dose is 0.001-2000mg/adult, preferably 0.1-20mg/adult. The compound of the formula is prepared by diazotizing an aniline compound to form the diazonium compound and allowing the product to react with pyridine.
