Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a medicine of powder preparation for a digestive canal, handy to carry, soluble in a short time, comprising sodium alginate as an active ingredient.
CONSTITUTION: Fine powder of sodium alginate is mixed with a polyhydric alcohol (e.g. polyethylene glycol) and pharmaceutically manufactured by fluidized bed granulation method. 100 pts.wt. of sodium alginate is mixed with 0.1-50 pts.wt. of polyethylene glycol. Sodium alginate is gradually dissolved in water and made into a high-viscosity solution. In the dissolution, interaction between sodium alginate and water overcomes cohesiveness, the intermolecular bond of sodium alginate partially relaxes, water permeates into molecules and is uniformly spread by motion between molecules so that sodium alginate can be dissolved in an extremely short time.
