Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the temporary continuance time of light input pulse by providing a zero dispersion pulse shaper which generates spectrally dispersed pulses and a modulator module which generates selectively attenuated pulses.
SOLUTION: As for a modulator array 130 placed in the zero dispersion shaper 100, pixels receiving the power spectrum center part of light input pulses which are spectrally dispersed are so controlled as to assume a finite gray level and pixels receiving the sleeve part of a power spectrum are driven still in a complete transparent state, thereby attenuating the center part of the power spectrum of the spectrally dispersed light input pulses 160. And, the zero dispersion pulse shaper 100 concentrates and recouples the spectrally dispersed light input pulses which are selectively attenuated to generate light output pulses 170 having temporary continuance time shortened as to the light input pulses 160.
