Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medium detection mechanism which enables a detection lever for detecting a sheet-like medium bi-directionally transferred on a transfer path to be accurately disposed at a midpoint position.SOLUTION: A paper detection mechanism 20 includes: a detection lever 41; a sub holder 42 which supports the detection lever 41 so that the detection lever 41 may rotate around a first axis line L1 extending in a printer width direction X; a main holder 43 which supports the sub holder 42 so that the sub holder 42 may rotate around a second axis line L2 arranged parallel with the first axis line L1; and a detector 44. When the detection lever 41 is disposed at a midpoint position C, the sub holder 42 includes a detection lever contact surface 67a that restricts the detection lever 41 from rotating around the first axis line L1 in a first rotation direction R1 and the main holder 43 includes a sub holder contact surface 53a that restricts the sub holder 42 from rotating around the second axis line L2 in a second rotation direction R2. The first rotation direction R1 is an opposite direction of the second rotation direction R2 when viewed in the printer width direction X.
