Abstract:
To solve the problem that a detection value decreases in reliability when an original floats from a movement detection part detecting a sheet moving on a mount part.SOLUTION: A medium feeding device comprises: a medium mount part which forms a mount surface where media are mounted; a feed roller which feeds the medium at the bottom among the media mounted on the medium mount part in a feed direction; and movement detection means which outputs information associated with a movement of the medium in the direction along the mount surface. Based upon detection information of medium height detection means which outputs information associated with a height of the medium mounted on the medium mount part from the mount surface in abnormality detection processing, control means continues, if the height is less than a first threshold, to feed the medium without reference to the detection information of the movement detection means or without acquiring the detection information of the movement detection means.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
