Abstract:
To suppress deformation and breakage of a support member, to which an energizing member that energizes a print head is connected, due to fatigue.SOLUTION: A medium issuing apparatus 1 includes a print head drive mechanism 40 that moves a printhead 5 to a print position 5A of holding a medium 3 between the print head and a platen roller 25, and to a retreat position 5B more apart from the platen roller 25 than the print position 5A, the print head drive mechanism including an energizing member 43 that energizes the print head 5 to the print position 5A side. The time period during which the print head 5 is retained in the retreat position 5B is made shorter by making the time period during which the print head 5 is retained in the retreat position 5B include only the time period from a medium issuing instruction to the instant when the medium 3 is transported onto the platen roller 25 and the time period of transporting the printed medium 3 to a position at which the medium is separated from the platen roller 25. The time period during which load is applied from the energizing member 43 to a support member 42 to which the energizing member 43 is connected is thus made shorter, thereby suppressing the deformation and breakage of the support member 42 due to fatigue.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
