PURPOSE: To set a medium automatically and easily at a specified position by controlling a medium carrying motor reading a mark indicating the suction level attached to the medium in a medium setting apparatus for slips or the like for printers or the like.
CONSTITUTION: Rollers 10 and 11 are retreated and a medium 21 is inserted into a pass way 5 from a guide plate 2 with a stopper 20 projecting in the direction A. And a mark 21a provided in a margin of the medium 21 faces a suction reading sensor 15 and with the output from the sensor 15, a suction detecting circuit 17 computes and detects a given suction level of the medium 21 to drive pulse motors 12 and 12' with a drive controlling circuit 19. At this point, the rollers 10 and 11 move in the direction A and the stopper 20 in the direction B. The medium 21 is sucked until the upper end thereof is detected with a sensor 13. Then, based on the suction level detected by the circuit 17, the supplying of medium 21 is reversed by the set amount and set at a printing position.
