Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a condensate for forming a polymer having desirable physical characteristics and flame resistance by the reaction with polyisocyanate by condensation reacting an amino substituted S-triazine, formaldehyde and an alkanol amine.

CONSTITUTION: An amino substituted S-triazine [e.g. a compound of the formula (R is H, inert substituted aryl, non-substituted or inert substituted alkyl; Z is NR2, H, non-substituted or inert substituted alkyl), melamine or the like], formaldehyde and at least one alkanol amine (e.g. diethanolamine, mixture of diethanolamine and diisopropanolamine, or the like) are condensation reacted to provide a condensate. It can be reacted with polyisocyanate to form a polymer having desirable physical characteristics and intrinsic flame resistancy. Further, a condensate in which the condensation product is alkoxylated is reacted with polyisocyanate, if desired, in the presence of a foaming agent, whereby polyurethane can be provided.
