PURPOSE: To always fix the dropping position of molten metal and to improve the tapping efficiency of molten metal by bringing the molten metal stream dropped through a hole opened at the bottom surface of an ingot and an opening hole for tapping the molten metal in a water cooling base plate closer to the center part (axial center part) of a coil by magnetic field generated from the induction coil below the opening hole.
CONSTITUTION: A suspension ring 14 is arranged on a water cooling ring 12 and on this suspension ring, a dam ring 18 is arranged concentrically with the opening hole 16. The billet 24 is heated with the induction coil 22 make the molten metal 26 and the molten metal is tapped off from the opening hole 16. Below this opening hole 16, the induction coil 30 is separately arranged coaxially with the opening hole 16. Then, when the molten metal 26 passes through the magnetic field generated with this induction coil 30, pinch force is acted to the molten metal stream. The stream of the molten metal 26 is brought closer to the axis of the induction coil 30 so as to drop toward the lower part of the center in the induction coil 30.
