To enhance actual operating time of a melting furnace by making a through hole at the bottom of a metallic container after an object is melted and taking out the molten thereby minimizing reaction between molten and the furnace wall and suppressing damage of the furnace wall.
A molten take-out through hole 2 passing a pick 11 for making a hole in a metallic container 5 is made in the bottom of a melting furnace for waste (pick type). The melting furnace comprises a lower heating coil 3 for heating molten not to be cooled down and solidified or for thermally fusing the solidified molten, an object 7 to be melted, and a heating coil 6 which can melt even the metallic container 5, as required. A sleeve 12A movable up and down in order to suppress contact with the furnace wall 4 is also provided. The sleeve 12A is abutted against the bottom part of the metallic container 5 and the object 7 to be melted can be taken out without touching the furnace wall side by picking the metallic container 5 by means of a hollow pick 11A. Since fluidity of the molten is low, the gap between the metallic container 5 and the sleeve 12A, if any, can be closed.
