To provide a melting method using plasma arc and a plasma arc melting furnace in which melting quantity can be doubled inexpensively.
Manufacturing cost of a plasma arc melting furnace 1 can be halved by arranging electrodes 3 made directly of conductive molten scrap 7 on a circle, connecting each electrode 3 with each phase of an AC polyphase power supply 33 and applying a voltage thereto, and melting the electrodes 3 themselves directly by generated plasma arc PA. Since the labor required for replacing a consumed carbon electrode is eliminated and the electrodes 3 made of conductive molten scrap 7 are melted directly, work efficiency is improved. Since the conductive molten scrap 7 drips and is collected in a crucible 5, it can be formed into an ingot or can be molded using a die.
