To provide a melting snow overhead wire which has no wire rod protruding from an outline made by connecting the total outermost peripheral parts in the cross-section shape in radial direction and has nothing to be damaged when passing through a snatch block, and can perform melting snow effectively and melting ice with little radiation of heat.
This is an overhead wire (1) in which power transmission metal wires (S)are stranded in layers in radial direction, and magnetic wire rods (4) which generate heat accompanying changes in magnetic lines of force together with the power transmission metal wires (3) are stranded, and the outline (E) made by connecting the total outermost peripheral parts in the cross-section in radial direction is formed in nearly circular form.
