PURPOSE: To provide a floating member for swimming which can be surely tightly fit to the body of a user so that the user can concentrate on swimming and in which a member for assisting swimming is constituted by a belt to be attached to a part of the body of the user and a floating member detachably fit to a predetermined position of the belt.

CONSTITUTION: This member for assisting swimming as a floating member at the time of swimming comprises a belt 10 to be attached to a part of the body of the user and a floating member 14 detachably fit to the belt 10 at a predetermined position. The belt 10 is made of, for example, expanded polyethylene foam and is fit to the girth of the user and a buckle 12 provided along a one free end 10a is connected to another free end 10b. The floating member 14 is made of, for example, expanded polyethylene foam. The other free end 10b of the belt 10 is passed through a pair of through holes 14b which have a retaining section 14a between them, thereby fixing the floating member 14 to the predetermined position of the belt 10.
