Abstract:
To provide a member for an internal combustion engine, having improved deposit shedding performance for preventing the accumulation of deposits.
The member for the internal combustion engine comprises a base member whose surface is coated with a carbonaceous film satisfied with Gσ ≤ 34 J/m2, RSm(MAX)/RSm(MIN) ≤ 2, RSm(MAX) ≤ 0.2 [mm], 0.1 [μm] ≤ Ra(MAX) ≤ 3 [μm]. The carbonaceous film contains fluorine and/or silicon of 30 atm% or more. The base member is a fuel injection valve, a piston, an intake valve or an intake control valve. In the surface treatment of the member of the internal combustion engine, the surface roughness of the base member is adjusted by etching work, work with abrasive grains, cutting work or molding transfer work.
