Abstract:
To provide a membrane electrode assembly in which metal ions are captured so that metal ions may be prevented from entering into a catalyst layer and an electrolyte membrane and clogging of a gas diffusion layer is prevented, and a fuel cell system in which the membrane electrode assembly is incorporated.
The membrane electrode assembly has an electrode having a gas diffusion layer 3 and a catalyst layer 4 installed on both sides of an electrolyte membrane 2. The catalyst layer 4 is installed on the electrolyte membrane side of the electrode and the electrode has a clathrate compound.
