Abstract:

To provide an electrolyte membrane for a fuel cell of a low-methanol crossover at low costs, and to provide a membrane electrolyte composite using the electrolyte membrane and a fuel cell.

Regarding the electrolyte membrane, by polymerizing aromatic vinyl compound monomer, nitrogen-containing heterocyclic vinyl compound monomer and divinyl compound monomer and by sulfonation of an obtained electrolyte membrane copolymer, permeability of sulfuric acid to electrolyte precursor polymer is improved, reaction to sulfonation is promoted, electrolyte membrane with high evenness is produced. Moreover, by introduction of basic nitrogen-containing heterocyclic structure, the methanol crossover can be reduced in the produced electrolyte membrane.
