To provide a membrane element for realizing high gas removing efficiency by the improvement of an air flow, and a membrane unit using the same.
In the membrane element, a pair of membranes 3 and 3 are attached to openings 24 of a support frame 2 in an opposed state, water channels 11 are formed between the membranes 3 and 3, air passages are formed on the outer surface sides of the membranes 3 and 3, and a plurality of separators 23, 23, and the like are provided to the two outer surfaces 2a and 2a of the support frame 2 facing to the air passages 12 and at the parts corresponding to the openings 24 in a state horizontally crossing the openings 24. The separators 23 have a constitution capable of causing turbulence in the air flow A flowing through the air passages 12. By this constitution, the air flow A flowing in the vicinity of the membranes 3 is disturbed by the separators 23 to get into the turbulent flow state. As a result, the amount of a polluted gas coming into contact with the membranes 3 increases to enhance gas removing efficiency.
