To provide a membrane separation device wherein even if the operation of the device is suspended, a liquid in a permeating liquid take-out passage is prevented from reversely flowing to avoid damage to a permeable membrane.
A pressure vessel 5 is partitioned into two sections by a permeable membrane. A liquid to be treated stored in a tank 1 is supplied to one of the sections of the vessel 5 by a pump 3. The permeable membrane is vibrated by a shaking means. Concentrated liquid is taken out of one of the sections of the vessel 5 through a concentrated liquid take-out passage 35, while permeating liquid is taken out of the other section of the vessel 5 through a permeating liquid take-out passage 37. A check valve 29 is provided close to the vessel 5 in the passage 37. The liquid in the passage 37 is prevented from flowing reversely toward the other section by the valve 29. Another reverse flow preventive mechanism such as safety valve may be provided in place of the valve 29.
