PURPOSE: To wash a filter element with a reduced amt. of a washing soln. within a short time without using an alkaline or acidic chemical soln. by forming the filter element from a flat filter membrane and a heater covered with a heat-resistant insulating material and provided so as to be capable of heating the filter membrane.
CONSTITUTION: A filter system mainly has a membrane separator and a raw soln. tank storing a soln. to be filtered (raw soln.) and the soln. to be filtered is circulated between the membrane separator and the raw soln. tank by the operation of a pressure circulating pump. The membrane separator is constituted of a plurality of disc-shaped filter elements 34 arranged vertically at a predetermined interval. Each of the filter elements 34 has a disc-shaped filter membrane support 48 consisting of two metal nets forming a filtrate passage 46 and the disc-shaped flat filter membrane 44 provided to the outside of the support 48 and, by supplying a current to the heater 50 provided between two supports 48, the solid stuck to the filter membrane 44 is heated and ashed, then each filter element is washed.
