To solve a problem wherein a card-receiving space of a connector needs to be increased for receiving memory cards having various sizes and different widths and thicknesses, and a positioning means needs a significantly complicated structure.
This memory card connector 34 includes an insulating housing 36 which at least in part defines the card-receiving space 48 for receiving one or more different types of memory cards. First and second sets of conductive terminals are mounted on the housing 36 for engaging appropriate contacts of first and second different types of memory cards 36 inserted into the space. Guide terminals 44 and 46 are equipped with generally rigid body portions having first guide surfaces for guiding the first type of memory card into the card-receiving space 48 and second guide surfaces independent of the first guide surfaces for guiding the second type of memory card 36 into the card-receiving space 48.
