Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform use in both operation forms of a volatile memory and a ROM by respectively providing one capacitor for storing information in respective memory cells and selecting the capacitance value as a fixed value corresponding to the information to be stored.
SOLUTION: The memory cell SP is constituted of the capacitor C, a resistor R, a switch S and a current source Q and the capacitor C is charged through the switch S. When the switch S is opened, the capacitor C is discharged through the resistor R. When the voltage of the capacitor C becomes lower than a threshold voltage determined beforehand, the information stored in the capacitor C is changed. In the operation form as a RAM, all the cells are refreshed by a clock rate f1. That is, in the operation form of the RAM, the memory acts as a typical DRAM.
