PURPOSE: To provide a menu selection method in which the operation is simplified in the menu selection, a program content selected finally is indicated in an easily understandable way and the operability is improved.

CONSTITUTION: Since selection buttons for image information to serve plural image display forms are provided while plural menu items are arranged on a screen in parallel, when at least one menu items is designated among the plural menu items, all programs in common to the items is guide-displayed by one screen information selecting function (concretely, multi-guide or multi- title). Thus, when some menu items are selected and a menu range is limited, all programs included in the limited range are guide-displayed directly in a desired display form by selecting one of the selection buttons on the pattern information.
