Abstract:
To provide an operating method of a merchant ship with a high navigating energy efficiency in a freezing sea area.SOLUTION: The merchant ship has a bulbous bow 13, a regular propeller 11 driven by the main engine 12 at the stern, an additional propeller 20 at the bottom and its additional propeller driving means, as well as the merchant ship arranges the regular propeller 11 and additional propeller 20 at the positions such that they can give the thrust in the state of the empty load ship, the lower part of the bulbous bow 13 has the waterline 18 on the sea surface or ice surface, and the merchant ship navigates by using the regular propeller 11 and additional propeller 20 when it navigates in the freezing sea area.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
