To provide a mesh fabric for screen gauze, made of an ultra fine monofilament of anisotropically melting aromatic polyester and having high density without being fibrillated, and to provide a method for easily producing the mesh fabric.
This mesh fabric for screen gauze is made of the anisotropically melting aromatic polyester monofilament, wherein the monofilament making the mesh fabric has a diameter of 10-40 μm, and the mesh fabric has a shedding percentage of 30-75%. The mesh fabric is obtained by using a conjugate yarn comprising a core component (X) made of the anisotropically melting aromatic polyester monofilament having a diameter of 10-40 μm and a sheath component (Y) made of a polyolefin-based polymer to weave a mesh fabric, then treating the resulting fabric with a solvent which can dissolve the sheath component (Y) to extract and remove the sheath component.
