PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a meshing clutch which can be downsized, and a differential gear equipped with the meshing clutch.SOLUTION: A meshing clutch 1 is equipped with a differential case 2 and a first side gear 31 which can relatively rotate about a common rotary axis; a clutch member 5 which transmits torque between the differential case 2 and the first side gear 31; and a pressing mechanism 10 which presses the clutch member 5 to move in the rotary axis direction. The clutch member 5 has a meshing portion 52 meshed with the first side gear 31 by movement in the rotary axis direction, an engaging portion 53 engaged with an insertion hole 212b formed on the differential case 2 in a circumferential direction, and a cam surface generating cam thrust in the rotary axis direction by relative rotations with the differential case 2. When the clutch member 5 moves in a direction meshing with the first side gear 31, the depth of meshing with the first side gear 31 is made deeper by the cam thrust, and then the engaging portion 53 is engaged with the insertion hole 212b to receive the torque from the differential case 2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
