To provide mesoporous silica particles of core-shell structure of which the shell comprises a silicon compound having an organic group and has mesopore structure having an average pore diameter of 8 nm, and a method for efficiently producing the same.
[1] In the mesoporous silica particles of core-shell structure of which the shell has mesopore structure, the shell has an average thickness of 5-700 nm, the particles have an average particle diameter of 0.05-10 m, the shell comprises a silicon compound having an organic group and includes a water-insoluble material (a) within the same, and the mesopore has an average pore diameter of 1-8 nm. [2] The method for producing such mesoporous silica particles of core-shell structure comprises: preparing a dispersion containing a water-insoluble material, a quaternary ammonium salt and a silica source having an organic group and forming a silanol compound upon hydrolysis; stirring the dispersion at 10-100C to deposit a complex including the quaternary ammonium salt and silica; and removing the quaternary ammonium salt from the complex.
