Title:
METAL-CARBON FIBER COMPOSITE MATERIAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2004043861
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To solve the problem that a metal-ceramics composite material in which a carbon fiber reinforcing material is compounded into an Si-Cu alloy matrix is lightweight and has high strength but is inferior in impact resistance since Si in the matrix is a brittle material.

In the metal-carbon fiber composite material obtained by compounding a carbon fiber reinforcing material into an Si-Cu alloy matrix, the content of the carbon fiber reinforcing material in the composite material is controlled to a range of 20 to 60 vol.%, and also, the concentration of Cu in the Si-Cu alloy is controlled to 10 to 90 mass%, so that the metal-carbon fiber composite material having excellent impact resistance is produced.
