This metal carrier catalyst for exhaust gas treatment comprises a metal carrier 1 made of a ferrous metal foil or a ferrous metal sheet, a carrier coating film 2 formed on the surface of the metal carrier 1, a deposition layer 3 formed on the surface of the carrier coating film 2, and a catalyst metal deposited on the deposition layer 3. The deposition layer of the metal carrier catalyst for exhaust gas treatment is prevented from being separated owing to the corrosion of the metal carrier and consequently, the metal carrier catalyst for exhaust gas treatment is provided with a long life.
