To provide a metal carrier which highly accurately forms a hollow area by a winding core, which is formed at the central part of a honeycomb structure, and can easily seal the hollow area and to provide a production method of the metal carrier.
First, an outer force is given from the outer peripheral side of a cylindrical winding core roll 10 so that a foil material with a flat foil 2a and a wave foil 2b laminated is wound around the winding core roll 10 to form the honeycomb structure 2. Next, a plug 3 formed with the same material as the foil material is inserted in the hollow area where the winding core roll 10 has been inserted as an object for treating the formed honeycomb structure 2. Then, the honeycomb structure 2 with the plug 3 inserted is diffusion joined.
