Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that, in the conventional metal-ceramics composite material, metal veins are easy to be generated, and it is inferior in mechanical properties. SOLUTION: In a metal-ceramics composite material obtd. by infiltrating metal into ceramics fiber or powder, the ceramics powder is the one obtd. by mixing 5 to 40 wt.% Si3 N4 powder into Al2 O3 powder. In the method for producing the metal-ceramics composite material in which a preform is formed with ceramics fiber or powder as a reinforcing material, and metal is infiltrated into the preform, the method for forming the preform is the one in which 5 to 40 wt.% Si3 N4 powder is previously mixed to Al2 O3 powder, the mixed powder is added with an inorganic binder, and the molded body molded by precipitating molding method is sintered, and the formed preform is infiltrated with an alloy essentially consisting of aluminum.
