Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a fibrous metal-chelating material having excellent scavenging performances for toxic heavy metal ions, etc., and producible at a low cost by a simple and safe method, to provide a method for producing the fibrous metal chelating material and to develop a technique of efficiently scavenging metal ions from a liquid or a gas using the fiber.
SOLUTION: This metal chelate-forming fiber comprises at least one kind of a metal chelate-forming compound selected from the group consisting of an aminocarboxylic acid, a thiocarboxylic acid and phosphoric acid having reactivity with glycidyl group and bound through a cross-linking reactive compound having a reactive double bond and the glycidyl group into the fiber molecule of a synthetic fiber. The method for producing the fiber is provided. The method for scavenging metal ions uses the fiber. The metal-chelating fiber scavenges the metal ions.
