Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the quality of a molten metal by reducing inclusions in the molten metal by highly accurately controlling the temperature of the molten metal in a molten metal tapping chamber to restrain the development of oxides and by reducing gas components contained in the molten metal. SOLUTION: An apparatus for treating the molten metal is provided with a heating chamber (5) for holding the molten metal (15) at a prescribed temperature, an introducing part (17) receiving the molten metal (15) and the molten metal tapping chamber (7) for discharging the molten metal (15) into this heating chamber (5). In the above molten metal tapping chamber (7), a first outlet/inlet hole (23) and a second outlet/inlet hole (24) are formed, and the molten metal tapping chamber (7) is communicated with the above heating chamber (5) through the respective both outlet/inlet holes (23, 24). Then, a circulating means (28) for circulating the molten metal (15) in the molten metal tapping chamber (7) into the molten metal tapping chamber (7) through the heating chamber (5) and the first outlet/inlet hole (23) in order from the second outlet/inlet hole (24), is arranged.
