To provide a metal gasket of simple structure in which its coming off a bolt can be prevented even when it is installed from the underside of an object.
This metal gasket 1 is composed of two metal plates 2 and 3 combined with each other. Bolt holes 5, 5' and 6, 6' for stud bolts respectively provided on an engine are provided in the metal plates 2 and 3. The metal plates 2 and 3 are jointed by spot welding or the like in such a way that the positions of the bolt holes 5 and 5' coincide with each other. As they are jointed, the positions of the bolt holes 6 and 6' are slightly deflected from each other. Deflection quantity at this time is set in such quantity that force is added to the metal gasket 1 to cause elastic deformation in the metal plates 2 and 3 to make the bolt holes 6 and 6' overlap with each other. As external force is added to make the bolt holes 6 and 6' coincide with each other, they are inserted to the bolt, and external force is released, thereby the metal gasket 1 is locked to the bolt.
