Abstract:

To provide chemically modified fullerene which is useful for manufacturing a proton conductive film for a fuel cell, and has a phosphonic acid group or a sulfonic acid group, and is made insoluble.

This invention relates to a metal ion-bridged phosphonated fullerene, wherein a phosphonic acid group of the chemically modified fullerene having substantially no organic compound bonded, is bridged with cerium ion or manganese ion. The fullerene contains the 1 to 12 phosphonic acid groups in a form of a partial structure H-C-C-PO(OH)2.
