Abstract:
To provide a metal manufacturing method which effectively reduces phosphorus from a metal oxide containing phosphorus at low cost in a short time by one-stage reduction treatment.SOLUTION: A metal manufacturing method includes reacting a metal oxide containing phosphorus used in a main raw material or an auxiliary raw material for metal smelting or metal refining with reducing gas containing nitrogen under adjustment of a treatment temperature, an oxygen partial pressure and a nitrogen partial pressure, performing reduction treatment for reducing the metal oxide while removing phosphorus in the metal oxide as gas, and making metal. The reduction treatment is preferably performed such that a melting point of the metal oxide is represented by Tm(°C), a treatment temperature T(°C) is set to be within a range of 750°C to 0.95×Tm(°C), an oxygen partial pressure PO2(atm) of the reducing gas satisfies the following condition, and a nitrogen partial pressure PN2(atm) of the reducing gas is set to be within a range of 0.2 atm to 0.9 atm.
