To provide a metal mask for screen printing such as a solder resist having a mesh in a printing opening which causes no releasing of a mesh layer of the metal mask, is excellent in the positional accuracy of a printing pattern during printing, excellent in the printing durability of the metal mask even if an opening with a high aperture ratio is formed, has no complication in its manufacturing process, and is excellent in yield.
A pattern corresponding to a required printing pattern is formed of an image forming resist film 4 by a lithography process on a metal substrate 1', and after the metal of a part except a pattern region on the metal substrate face on which the pattern is formed of the image forming resist film 4 is partly etched, the mesh 3 is formed on the partly etched region by a laser processing method.
