PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a metal mask of high definition easily.SOLUTION: A metal mask manufacturing method for manufacturing a metal mask 2 by laser-welding a thin film metal sheet 8 to a mask frame 4 comprises: a first placing step of placing an intermediate metal sheet 6 thicker than said thin film metal sheet and having a thickness of five times or less of that of said thin film metal sheet, on said mask frame; a first welding step of laser-welding said intermediate metal sheet placed on said mask frame to said mask frame; a second placing step of placing said thin film metal sheet on said intermediate metal sheet placed on said mask frame; and a second welding step of laser-welding said thin film metal sheet placed on said intermediate metal sheet, to said intermediate metal sheet.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
