To effectively prevent the cooling of a preheated porous body, to produce it in a net-shape and to apply matrix metal single substance layers of uniform thickness on upper and lower both sides.
A porous preform 3 is formed by using a molding die obtd. by assembling a frame 12 surrounding the side face of the preform and a bottom board covering the lower face of the perform 3 so as to be dividable. After that, only the bottom board is separated, and, in a state in which the preform 3 and the frame 12 are integrated, it is set to a casting die 21. At this time, the frame 12 is placed on a recessed part 25a for placing a frame higher than the place directly below the preform by one step. Then, since the bottom face of a lower die 22 has been provided with difference in level, the intervals between the inside face of the casting die 21 and the upper and lower faces of the preform 3 are made equal and uniform over the whole faces. When the molten metal of matrix metal is impregnated in this state, upper and lower both faces can be applied with matrix metal single substance layers equal in thickness and uniform over the whole faces.
