To provide a metal melting holding furnace capable of evading the enlargement of a furnace body and attaining the fuel consumption reduction of a burner while enabling the melting of a suitable melting material and the thermal insulation of a molten metal.SOLUTION: A metal melting holding furnace comprises: a melting chamber 20 having a material input part 21 at the top and an opening part 25 at one side, and in which a melting material M1 inputted from the material input part is melted, and the melted molten metal is flown down via a molten metal flow down part 26 at the lower part of the opening part; a molten metal holding chamber 30 having a molten metal storage part 31 for storing the molten metal M2 melted in the melting chamber so as to be flown down; and a heating burner 40 arranged at the molten metal holding chamber so as to face the opening part of the melting chamber. The heating burner radiates burner flame toward the melting material in the melting chamber so as to straddle the molten metal storage part to directly heat the melting material so as to be melted, and indirectly heats the molten metal stored in the molten metal storage part by the burner flame so as to be thermally insulated.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
