Abstract:

To provide metal powder for powder metallurgy which has excellent packing properties upon compacting in powder metallurgy and can produce a sintered compact having high density and excellent dimensional precision, and to provide a method for producing a sintered compact using the metal powder for powder metallurgy.

The metal powder 1 for powder metallurgy is composed of: metal powder 2; and a film 3 covering the surfaces of the respective grains thereof. The film 3 is composed of a material comprising water-soluble organic amines. In this way, the frictional resistance among the respective grains of the metal powder 2 is relaxed with the water soluble organic amines, so as to reduce the resistance of the surface. As a result, the fluidity of the metal powder 1 for powder metallurgy is made excellent. Further, kneaded material comprising the metal powder 1 for powder metallurgy can securely flow to all the corners of the cavity of a molding die, and, a molded body thereby is made into the one to which the shape of the cavity is faithfully transferred. Further, the obtained molded body is made into the one homogeneous and having a reduced individual difference.
