PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new and improved metal processing apparatus capable of improving processing quality in processing of a metal material.SOLUTION: A metal processing apparatus includes: a conveyance mechanism for conveying a metal material in a prescribed conveyance direction; a heating mechanism for partially heating the metal material; a cooling mechanism which is provided at a downstream side of the heating mechanism and jets coolant to a portion heated by the heating mechanism in the metal material so as to cool the portion; and a holding mechanism which is provided at a downstream side of the cooling mechanism so as to hold the metal material. In the holding mechanism, a projection section is formed to project from an outer peripheral section of the metal material to a radial direction outside in a state that the metal material is held. In the cooling mechanism, a jetting port is provided to jet the coolant. A shielding section extending in a direction intersecting with the conveyance direction is provided with a prescribed gap from the metal material at a downstream side of the jetting port and at an upstream side of the holding mechanism.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
